Hey everyone, I talked with a few people and the idea of forming a Dungeons and Dragons group was put forth semi-seriously. I'd like to see if anyone else was interested in the idea. As such, I created a questionnaire that I hope you will fill out so that I can gauge everyone's interest.

Thanks in advance for filling it out!

So the questionnaire has been live for about 24 hours now and I've gotten around 10 responses so that's a good start! I went ahead and put together more in depth questionnaire after talking with others today. As things stand, we'll most likely have two groups of 5-6 people. Jaynex showed us Roll 20 and it looks like that might be the best option for us to use to play.

Without further ado here's questionnaire #2

And here is a link to a GMT converter for time format. PLEASE USE THIS WHEN FILLING OUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE: https://greenwichmeantime ... time-zone-converter/

Okay about the same number of people responded to the second survey as the first so I'm assuming we've got everyone on board.

All in all we have 10 people including myself interested. 5 have experience playing D&D before, 5 (including myself) don't. 3 have experience using Roll 20, 7 (including myself) don't. 3 have experience DMing before, while 7 (including myself) don't. As for preference, 6 prefer playing while 3 can do either. Most of the preference for when we play is during the week (Mon-Fri) however, EN pointed out to me that some might want to include Fri. for the weekend slot so if the people who voted for during the week wanted Fri. and the people who voted for the weekend wanted Fri. as well we can always split the middle and settle on Fri. The feeling about a dry run is mostly if others want to and yes, so I think we will do a dry run mostly to make sure we can work with Roll 20. And finally for the style of campaign, most want a semi-serious campaign which I respect.

Now as for time, most of the responses were within the US, so that'll make scheduling according to time easier, though I'd ask Gibson to clarify his time zone as he put "Around 11 pm GMT" which doesn't help me.

If you haven't already please create an account at https://roll20.net/ it's free so you don't need to worry about paying for anything. Also, when it comes to character creation the vote is split between creating on one's own time vs in a session. I insist we create in a session mainly because I want everyone to have fun while rolling for stats and everything, plus it'll give us a good chance to work with Roll 20 proper. Once we get a schedule and everything else set we'll have our first session be rolling characters.

The next thing I'd also recommend is for you to look at the player's handbook, if you don't have one just google "dnd 5e pdf" and literally the second link is a pdf of the player's handbook. We'll be using it exclusively when we roll characters including things such as race/classes/ and so on. If you want to roll a different sort then just make sure whomever we decide to dm for our groups knows the pertinent information about the race/class that they might need to know.

And finally the groups. With 10 players, having 9 players and 1 DM might be a bit too clunky, but I'm always open to being convinced otherwise. If not, then I recommend we do two groups of 5 with 1 DM and Four players apiece. For the DMs I'll say this: If you have experience DMing before and you're willing to do so for a group of four players (who most likely will be completely new to the game) then please say so. I hope a small party will make things easier on you.

So with that all said here's what I want next from everyone who filled out the second questionnaire:

1. Create a Roll 20 account.
2. Find the player's handbook on google and start browsing through and get an idea of how you might want to build your character.
3. If you're willing to DM then say so. And if you are start preparing as you need to. Think broad strokes.
4. If you want the week (Mon-Thurs) say what day you want to play on. If you said weekend (Fri-Sun) say what day you want to play on. If you answered week and wanted Fri. say so. If you answered weekend and wanted Fri. say so. Then, since we're all mostly US say what time of day works for you (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night. For reference each corresponds to (9-12 AM, 1-4 PM, 5-8 PM 9 PM- 12 AM.
6. Also look at the basic rules from Wizard: http://media.wizards.com/ ... yerBasicRulesV03.pdf you don't need to have it memorized but it can be handy to have if you don't know how to do something like combat and need a refresher.

Thanks again!

Okay I've put together a little tutorial campaign on Roll 20. I'll be hosting this Saturday at 9 PM CST so GMT -6 For you GMT -5 that's 10 PM. I can also do an hour before. There will be four players and I'll DM. The point is just to get everyone familiar with using Roll 20. The way I see it, we'll have a group run the characters then after they're done the next group will run the same characters. Please respond if the time works for you and link to your Roll 20 page so I can add you on Roll 20.

Thanks.

Tutorial game went pretty well, in my opinion. Things I'll need for the upcoming week. I need two volunteers to DM for two groups of 4-5 players. If you have experience DM'ing on roll20 and in 5e please send me a PM on Discord saying you wish to DM for a group. Once we decide our DMs then we'll divide the players between the two DMs. After that, we'll set a start date for our session zeros in which the players will roll stats and create their characters on roll 20, more on that later. And finally once the characters have been made and the DMs are ready we will have each group meeting once every two weeks alternating each weekend. So for instance: Group A will meet one weekend then Group B will meet the next and so on and so on. As of now, I'm hoping Saturday at 9 PM works for everyone.

Once again thanks for coming to the tutorial game and I look forward to getting each group up and running in the near future.

Update for you all: I've reached out to people asking if they will DM for a group and am waiting on them to get back to me. Once I have that settled. I'll divide people up into the groups then we'll schedule group 0 character roll sessions for each group based on DM discretion on how much time they'll need to prepare.

We've got the DM situation settled. I will DM for one group and KC will DM for the other group. Here is the group division:

Group A:

Helix (DM)
Jaynex
Pinkerton
Emperor
John Duck
Rambling Man
EN

Group B:
KC (DM)
Pickle Rick
Wackey
Smithy
Ezio
The Pope
Gibson

We'll work on session zeroes for rolling characters as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued patience.
